Paul joins Team Brightbox! 7 Dec 09

paulWe welcomed our latest addition to the Brightbox team a fortnight ago – Paul Thornthwaite.

Experienced programmer Paul was a beta tester for Brightbox back in our very early days and has now come on board as our new senior developer. He’ll be joining Baz and Caius working on our customer-facing control panel and our behind-the-scenes systems, and he’ll also take a lead in project managing all the development side of things.

Welcome to the team, Paul!

Say “hello” to George Hills 16 Jul 09

george_hills_author

All of us at Brightbox towers are very pleased to welcome George Hills to the team.

George, who joined us earlier this week, is an experienced Senior Systems Administrator and a networking expert.  He will be working within our Operations team to both manage our existing hosting infrastructure and develop our new “cloud” systems.

Welcome on board George!

Brightbox sponsor Scotland on Rails 2009 5 Feb 09

I’m pleased to announce that Brightbox will be sponsoring the Scotland on Rails conference in Edinburgh (26-28 March 2009). Alan and Paul (and others I’m sure) have done a great job of putting together what promises to be a thoroughly engaging and stimulating schedule, in fact, leading them to sell out before the early bird offer was over :)

John, David, Rahoul, Caius and myself will all be travelling up to Edinburgh for the event – so please come and say “Hi”.

Of course, never fear, we’ll bring plenty of our famous t-shirts and stickers :)

David Smalley joins the team 21 Oct 08

Hot on the heels of Caius earlier this month, we’re really pleased to welcome David Smalley to the Brightbox team. We’ve known David for some time now so it’s great to finally be able to bring him on board.

David brings a wide range of technical and sys admin skills to the team and will work closely with John, managing and developing our hosting systems and infrastructure. David is also based in Leeds, again highlighting the wealth of talent here in the North (and Leeds in particular).

Introducing Caius Durling 6 Oct 08

We’re really pleased to welcome Caius Durling to our team. Caius is a talented developer and will initially be working closely with Baz on [re]developing our own billing and customer management Rails applications.

Caius is something of a legend in the Leeds Geek scene, even though he only moved to our lovely city a couple of months ago. The fact that most of us first “met” Caius through Twitter says something about his prolific and entertaining addiction :)

Baz joins the team 8 Aug 08

We’re really excited to welcome Baz (a.k.a Rahoul Baruah) to the Brightbox team.

Baz is a gifted software developer with 10 years experience and a long time friend of Brightbox. Baz built a lot of our existing billing system and he’ll now help drive the development of the next generation of our systems as well as getting involved in all aspects of the business.

Rumours that Baz only took the job because we have a rather large whiteboard are untrue, although he does admit to a rather unhealthy fascination :)
